Cannabis Helped My Crohn's Disease and Improved My Quality of Life Tremendously!
Jun 02, 2024Submitted by Sandy D. from New Jersey
I am 44 years old from New Jersey. I have been dealing with Crohn's disease since I was in my late 20s.
The challenges I was facing
Were chronic pain and flares with stomach spasms and joint pain with anxiety and depression. Causing me to feel lonely, a burden, and isolated.
I was on a lot of different prescription medications
With side effects such as suicidal ideations, which led me into a woman's partial program. I've worked with countless therapists and doctors, most leading to different prescription drug changes and it wasn't until I was completely fed up with trying different medications and got the nerve to ask for my medical marijuana card, in conjunction with a change to Remicade infusions every 8 weeks for my Crohn's.
I used to hold guilt for utilizing this plant
Yes, my mother called me a pothead and I got extremely offended. I wish people could see beyond the stigma and recognize the health benefits this wonderful plant has to offer. The more open I am about it and honest, the more that guilt gets released as it is not serving my highest good to hold onto that guilt. I know I need to push through the stigma and be proud of the help it has given me!
Depending on how my day is, if I have any stomach spasms, I will smoke THC and that will calm them down
I take a tincture (1ml) of CBD in the morning to help with pain. In the evening I take a CBD/THC 5:1 gummy to help with the pain and any depression that I may be feeling. I also take a CBN tincture (1ml) before bed to help with sleep. Sometimes I take a full THC gummy if my flares are bad or just want some creative inspiration.
Before I started my Cannabis journey for my Crohn's
I was feeling hopeless and depressed and always afraid I'd have to run to the bathroom but there wouldn't be one; I wasn't able to be present because I was always worrying.
After incorporating Cannabis to address my health
My inflammation levels dropped by 99 points and I am now happy to say I am in remission! I am also almost completely off antidepressants too! I have felt much more hopeful and happy and am able to stay in the present moment, not worrying about anything.
