Dr. David Allen Retired Cardiac Surgeon

In this video, Dr. David Allen, a retired cardiac surgeon and member of the International Cannabinoid Research Society (ICRS), discusses the discovery of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and its significance in medicine.

Discovered approximately 30 years ago, the ECS is a chemical communication system in the body responsible for maintaining homeostasis.

Dr. Allen emphasizes the importance of doctors understanding this system, as manipulation of the ECS has shown potential in controlling conditions such as diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular events. He suggests that Cannabis use can significantly decrease the incidence of diabetes by protecting pancreatic beta cells from oxidative stress, implying that Cannabis may have broader medical benefits beyond conventional understanding.
